Preface.- Foreword.- Introduction.- Shear wave elastography physics.- Shear wave elastography of the thyroid nodules.- Differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules.- Summary.
This book is a superbly illustrated, comprehensive guide to the differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules by means of shear wave elastography. A wealth of representative clinical cases are used to demonstrate the value of the stiffness map in identifying the degree and pattern of fibrosis. The goal is to enable readers to identify the characteristic differential diagnostic features of nodular hyperplasia, thyroiditis, follicular adenoma, and the various types of thyroid cancer and to predict the final histopathology on the basis of the imaging findings. With this in mind, correlations between the appearances on shear wave elastography and conventional ultrasonography and the findings of fine-needle aspiration cytology, core needle biopsy, and surgical biopsy are highlighted. In addition, the fundamental principles of shear wave elastography are clearly explained and related to clinical practice in the field of thyroid disease. Both radiologists and clinicians will find the book to be an excellent asset that aids in correct preoperative diagnosis.
Myung Hi Yoo, MD. PhD graduated colledge of medicine, Seoul national university in 1984. She has been served as professor in the department of medicine, Soon-chun-hyang University Hospital since 1984, and as the director of Elim thyroid clinic since 2019.
She had worked as research fellow in the department of endocrinology and metabolism at Harvard medical school (Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, U.S.A) in 1989 and 1992.. She served as vlce President of Korean Endocrine Society in 2007
She participated in the publication of the book titled as "Cytological aspiration biopsy of the thyroid gland " with Munho Lee, MD. PhD, professor of Seoul national university hospital in 1984, which contributed greatly to the early wide application of the fine needle aspiration cytology in the diagnosis of the thyroid nodules in Korea.
She has been devoted to the clinical practice and research about the differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules and has reported articles regarding that topic. Recently she focused her research regarding the efficacy of shear wave elastography in the differential diagnosis of thyroid disease and reported several articles. At present she is publishing a guide reference book for the differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules by shear wave elastography.
