The book was compiled by Johan Verbraecken, Bertien Buyse, Hans Hamburger, Viviane van Kasteel and Reindert van Steenwijk.
The foreword is by Mary Morrell, professor of Sleep and Respiratory Physiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.

Johan Verbraecken (B), pulmonologist, is medical coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Sleep Disorders Centre UZA (Antwerp University Hospital, Antwerp, Belgium), president of the Belgian Association for Sleep research and Sleep medicine (BASS), and advisory member of the Executive Committee of the Assembly of National Sleep Societies (ANSS).
Bertien Buyse (B), pulmonologist, heads the multidisciplinary Leuven University Centre for Sleep Monitoring LUCS (University Hospital Gasthuisberg, Leuven, Belgium) and is vice-president of the BASS.
Hans Hamburger (NL), neurologist, is former chairman of the Dutch Society for Sleep-Wake Research (NSWO).
Viviane van Kasteel (NL), neurologist, works at the Sleep centre of the Epilepsy Institute of the Netherlands Foundation (SEIN) in Zwolle (The Netherlands).
Reindert van Steenwijk (NL), pulmonologist, works at Amsterdam UMC, location AMC (The Netherlands) and is former chairman of the Sleep Apnea section (SAS) of the Dutch Society of Physicians for Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis (NVALT).
