ABOUT THE EDITORS AND ASSOCIATE EDITORS
Marvin P. Fried, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a New York native, and graduate
of City College of New York 1965. He received the New York City Jonas Salk Award
and Scholarship from New York City College. He graduated Tufts University School
of Medicine in 1969, followed by training in Otolaryngology at Washington University
School of Medicine, where he also served as a Fellow of the National Institute
of Neurologic Disease and Stroke. After serving in the United States Public
Health Service in Norfolk, Virginia at the rank of Surgeon (Commander), his
first faculty appointment was at Boston University School of Medicine and Tufts
University School of Medicine. In 1979, he joined the Harvard Medical School
faculty, being promoted ultimately to Professor of Otology and Laryngology in
1997. He served as Chief of the Divisions of Otolaryngology at the Brigham and
Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Co-Director of the
Head and Neck Oncology Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In 1999, he
became Professor of Otolaryngology and University Chairman, Albert Einstein
College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. He also has served as the
Program Director for the Otolaryngology Residency Program at Harvard Medical
Center, and now at AECOM.
Alfio Ferlito, M.D., D.L.O., D.Path., F.R.C.Ed. ad hominem, F.R.C.S. (Engl, Glasg, Ir) ad eundem, F.D.S.R.C.S. ad eundem, F.A.C.S., F.H.K.C.O.R.L., F.R.C.Path., F.A.S.C.P., M.C.A.P., F.R.S.M., is Director of the Department of Surgical Sciences, Professor and Chairman of the ENT Clinic at the University of Udine School of Medicine.
Alessandra Rinaldo, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.R.S.M. is Clinical Professor
of Otolaryngology in the Department of Surgical Sciences, ENT Clinic, at the
University of Udine School of Medicine. She graduated in medicine at the University
of Padua where she also did her residency in Otolaryngology through the mentorship
of Alfio Ferlito. She has authored 214 publications in peer-reviewed journals
and 14 book chapters. She has collaborated with 147 international experts and
published in 15 medical impacted journals. She is Associate Editor with Doctor
Richard V. Smith of the forthcoming third edition of the book entitled The Larynx
(by Fried MP, Ferlito A, eds. Plural Publishing, San Diego).
Richard V. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.S., is Associate Professor and
Vice-Chairman, Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Albert
Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center.
