Description
This is an introductory text on the science of image processing, which employs
the Matlab programming language to illustrate some of the elementary, key concepts
in modern image processing and pattern recognition drawing on specific examples
from within science, medicine and electronics.
It provides a comprehensive introduction to some of the key concepts and techniques
of modern image processing and offers a framework within which these concepts
can be understood by a series of well chosen examples, exercises and computer
experiments.
Clearly divided into three distinct sections, the book begins with a fast-start introduction to the material to enhance accessibility. Subsequent chapters offer an advanced discussion of topics involving more difficult concepts and the final section looks at the application of Matlab to image processing.
Prior experience of Matlab is not required nor is access to Matlab, as the book is stand-alone. Matlab is frequently referred to as the tool for conducting experiments and for solving the problems, as it is ideally suited to this role and is widely available.
- Features a complimentary website featuring solutions to the exercises, a forum for discussion and accessibility to files corresponding to the examples and exercises within the book
- Includes numerous examples, graded exercises and computer experiments
