Author(s) Bio

Stephen W. Gutkin is a medical communications professional who has 28 years of experience in writing and editorial management, with a focus on publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is Senior Market Access Writer with the WG Group (New York and London), a health data analytics and communications company. A coauthor of 13 peer-reviewed papers, Stephen served as president of Rete Biomedical Communications Corp. for 23 years. During this span, the organization drafted and edited approximately 200 papers published in leading journals. The work culminated collaborations with >500 researchers in academia and industry.

A summa cum laude graduate of Duke University, Mr. Gutkin served as arts critic for the Brooklyn Paper; a research scientist developing HPLC assays for endogenous biomolecules and GLC assays for therapeutic drug monitoring; and copy chief with McGraw Hill Healthcare (New York). He has delivered invited lectures on medical writing at Johnson & Johnson and the Center for Business Intelligence (now CBINET). In 1991, his contribution to late rhetorician William Safire's "On Language" column was published in the New York Times.

Mr. Gutkin is a member of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, American Medical Writers Association, International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, and Phi Beta Kappa. He resides in northern New Jersey with his wife, son, colorful mother-in-law, and even more colorful pet managerie.
