Psychology and Work is a new textbook for introductory Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology classes. Written by award-winning I/O professors with expertise in I/O Psychology and teaching this course, the book is organized into three main sections. It first includes an overview of the history of I/O Psychology and a chapter on research methods, subsequently covers the core principles of Industrial Psychology, and then discusses the key areas of Organizational Psychology.

Donald Truxillo is a professor in the Department of Psychology at Portland State University. His research examines the methods employers use to hire workers and the way that applicants perceive their potential employer during recruitment and hiring. He also studies issues associated with the aging workforce and age diversity including older worker stereotypes and job design. He also examines issues associated with antecedents of workplace safety.

Talya N. Bauer

Portland State University
Talya N. Bauer (Ph.D., Purdue University) is an award-winning teacher and researcher and recipient of the SIOP Distinguished Teaching Award as well as the Academy of Management Human Resource division’s Innovations in Teaching Award. She conducts research about relationships at work including recruitment, applicant reactions to selection, onboarding, and leadership. Her work has been supported by grants from NSF, the SHRM, and SIOP Foundations. She is a Fellow of SIOP, APA, and APS.

Berrin Erdogan

Berrin Erdogan (Ph.D. University of Illinois at Chicago) is Professor of Management at Portland State University. She studies relationships in the workplace, and how they can be the conduit to performance, retention, and well-being in the workplace. She coauthored over 40 journal articles and book chapters, co-authored three books and edited a handbook. She is a fellow of Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).
