This book addresses all pain imaging aspects related to both the central nervous system and the body (thorax, abdomen and pelvis), thus updating the international literature on the topic.
By adopting a clinical-radiological approach and offering a comprehensive differential diagnosis for a number of painful syndromes (many of which can mimic one other), the work aims to support and enhance the diagnostic management of these patients, suggesting the most appropriate diagnostic algorithm.
The book is divided into separate sections for each anatomical macro-area, and the chapters cover the respective topics from both clinical and radiological perspectives. Further, the book includes extensive electronic supplementary material. As such, it offers an invaluable tool for radiologists, neuroradiologists and clinicians working in internal medicine, surgery and neurology, and could also be used in residency programs for these groups.
Prof. Maria Assunta Cova is Professor of Radiology at the University of Trieste. She is the Head of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and the Head of the Department of Radiology at the Cattinara Hospital in the "Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Integrata" of Trieste. Prof. Cova is the Director of the Postgraduate School of Radiology at the University of Trieste. She has many teaching responsabilites providing courses for medical students, dentist students, radiographer's students, radiology residents and residents of many other disciplines (neurology, surgery, internal medicine, gynaecology, surgery, urology, orthopaedics). Prof. Cova is a member of a number of scientific societies, including the Italian Society of Radiology, the European Society of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the European Society of Urogenital Radiology, the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology. She was a member of ESR National Society Board Committee. Prof. Cova has served as Editorial Assistant of La Radiologia Medica. She has written more than 200 publications, many of which have focused on topics including diagnostic radiology, with contributions expecially in the field of computed tomography and magnetic resonance, uroradiology, musculoskeletal radiology, neuroradiology and contrast media. She is frequently invited to participate in both national and international meeting, having made more than 200 presentations to date.
Dr. Fulvio Stacul is Chairman of the Department of Radiology at the Maggiore Hospital in the "Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Integrata" of Trieste. Dr. Stacul is a member of a number of scientific societies and committees, including the Italian Society of Radiology, the European Society of Radiology, the European Society of Urogenital Radiology, and serves as Secretary of the Contrast Media Safety Committee of the ESUR. He has served on the Scientific Editorial Boards of both La Radiologia Medica and European Radiology. Dr. Stacul has written more than 300 publications, many of which have focused on contrast media, on topics including diagnostic radiology, uroradiology, vascular radiology, ultrasonography, and interventional radiology. He is frequently invited to participate in both national and international meeting, having made more than 362 presentations to date.
